Brick officials last week announced that they will use funds recently awarded through the settlement of ongoing opioid pharmaceutical litigation to purchase a new ambulance for the township\u2019s Police EMS-Rescue squad.<\/p>\n

The township council voted to award a contract to purchase the new vehicle at its Oct. 7, 2025 council meeting. The ambulance is a Medix MSV157 model that will be built on a Dodge Ram 4500 chasis. The ambulance is being purchased through a pre-bid contract through a state-approved government cooperative for $333,014. The ambulance is being supplied by Defender Emergency Product Sales and Service, of Farmingdale.<\/p>\n

Brick has received two rounds of settlements from national opioid litigation, including a $193,600 award approved earlier this month<\/a>. The ambulance, specifically, is being funded through a 2024 round of funding<\/a> that saw the township net $943,000 from the settlements.<\/p>\n
