Projects that will improve drainage and repave streets were approved during a short meeting of the Brick Township council on Monday night.<\/p>\n

The first council meeting following last week\u2019s mayoral and township council elections was quiet, with a light agenda and only about 20 minutes of largely routine business after a presentation that recognized the accomplishments of local Girl Scouts. The most significant matters to come before the governing body were two contract awards for upcoming drainage and roadway improvement projects in town.<\/p>\n

The council awarded a $496,920 contract to GE Construction Services, of Old Bridge, to complete the drainage improvement project along Meridian Drive. The drainage improvement project is planned for much of the length of the roadway, which runs between Jordan Road and Rainbow Drive in the Midstreams section. It runs west of the north branch of Beaver Dam Creek.<\/p>\n

The project consists of the installation of 2,200 linear feet of drainage pipe that will be installed along Meridian between Orion Drive and its southern terminus at Rainbow Drive.<\/p>\n

The council also awarded a $216,213 contract to Earle Asphalt, of Farmingdale, to complete a street repaving project along Longpoint Drive and Perry Drive, both located off Drum Point in a lagoon community south of Mandalay Road. Both streets will be milled and resurfaced under the project. Residents will be notified before work begins; construction dates are generally set during a pre-construction meeting after the bid is awarded.<\/p>\n
