A Point Pleasant Beach man who works as a teacher in Neptune Township has been charged with the possession of an illegal weapon \u2013 a knife \u2013 prosecutors in Monmouth County announced Thursday.<\/p>\n

Kevin J. Hasbrouck, 36, has been charged with a single count of a fourth-degree weapons offense after being found to be in possession of a knife, according to a statement from the office. On Feb. 3, 2026 a member of the Neptune Township Police Department responded to Neptune Middle School for a \u201creport of a weapons investigation.\u201d The investigation is alleged to have revealed a large stainless-steel knife with a black handle located within a desk drawer belonging to Hasbrouck.<\/p>\n

Authorities did not release additional information as to why the knife may have been brought to school or how officers became involved.<\/p>\n

The case is assigned to Monmouth County Assistant Prosecutor Matthew Fronk, the statement said. A photo of the suspect was not released; a search of jail records showed he was not in custody.<\/p>\n
