The property has long been found to have been in disrepair and has been considered abandoned and unsafe. The township’s Property Maintenance Board voted Feb. 25 to authorize its demolition. At the previous meeting, in January, no owner of the structure appeared despite notices having been sent by the township. The township had also filed a lis pendens on the property, functionally prohibiting its sale until the lien to reimburse demolition costs have been paid.

According to documents filed with the county, Brick’s inspectors found that the structure’s roof had collapsed, fire damage from a previous arson case has never been repaired, the utilities are not connected, there is extensive mold damage and rodents have the opportunity to enter the structure.

According to real estate listings, the property is up for sale, and is located partially within a residential zone and partially within a medical/hospital support zone.

The Brick Township council this week unanimously voted in favor of a resolution enabling staff to solicit bids for the demolition of an abandoned home and accessory structures on the end of a small street off Route 70.
