The National Weather Service adjusted its predicted snow totals slightly downward for most of Ocean County in an update released at about 10 p.m. Monday night, though Brick Township remains in a zone where 18-24 inches of snow is predicted.<\/p>\n

Brick is positioned just near the borderline of where the 18-24 inch zone ends and where a zone indicating 14-18 inches of snow begins. The National Weather Service\u2019s office in Mount Holly adjusted snow totals downward due to the positioning of the storm and the intensity of precipitation bands coming onshore.<\/p>\n

\u201cAmounts have trended lower, but lots of double digit snow on the map,\u201d said Gary Szatkowski, meteorologist in charge at Mount Holly, in a tweet<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In Brick, winds whipped wildly in the township\u2019s barrier island portion, with occasional gusts reaching near 40 m.p.h. on the mainland. In the Herbertsville neighborhood, just under three inches had fallen.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe National Weather Service, also concerned about a sharp western cutoff and to what extent the steadier snows can push west and maintain their intensity, has lowered their snow totals from their earlier forecasts,\u201d said Dan Skeldon, a noted meteorologist with The Press of Atlantic City, posted on his Facebook page at 10:30 p.m. Monday.<\/p>\n

Still, \u201cSteadier snows now finally pivoting onshore along the coast from Point Pleasant to LBI to Brigantine and Atlantic City,\u201d Skeldon said<\/a>.<\/p>\n
