(Photo: NatalieMaynor\/Flickr)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>A weekly Farmers Market that will come to Brick Township each Saturday through mid-September will kick off April 25, township officials said Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The farmers market will be located at Windward Beach Park and, weather permitting, will run every Saturday morning until Sept. 12, with the exception of July 4. The market will open at 9 a.m. and ends at 12 noon each week.<\/p>\n<p>The family friendly market, township officials say, will showcase farm fresh produce and other varieties of foods such as pickled products, baked breads, relishes, pastries and more.\u00a0 Just in time for Mother\u2019s Day, the Market will offer a nice assortment of flowers and plants for spring planting, the township said in its announcement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are excited to bring a Farmers\u2019 Market to Brick,\u201d Mayor John Ducey said. \u201cThis market will encourage the community to eat fresh and buy local.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, Ducey said officials were looking into what it would take to establish a farmers market in town and came across a grant from the United States Department of Agriculture. Brick\u2019s application was accepted, and resulted in the township receiving a $40,000 grant to host a farmers market and promote it in the community, along with funding to educate residents on locally-grown produce and agricultural products.
