Beach Buggy Association\/ Facebook)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Brick Township will not allow four wheel drive vehicles on its beaches this upcoming off-season, township officials said.<\/p>\n<p>Normally, four wheel drive vehicles, commonly known as beach buggies, are allowed on the oceanfront from Oct. 1 through April 30. But due to ongoing work with the steel wall revetment currently being built and a beach replenishment project that is expected to get underway after the new year, the township council on Tuesday decided to suspend the beach buggy permitting program for the current season.<\/p>\n<p>Officials said they expect the program to be reinstated after the work is complete.<\/p>\n<p>The permits usually cost $35 and entitle the owner of a vehicle to drive on the beach for the purpose of surf fishing.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.njbba.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">New Jersey Beach Buggy Association<\/a> maintains a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.njbba.org\/beach-access.html\" target=\"_blank\">list of other beaches<\/a> where buggy access is provided.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fcbkbttn_buttons_block\" id=\"fcbkbttn_left\"><div class=\"fb-share-button fcbkbttn_large_button \" data-href=\"https:\/\/shorebeat.com\/brick\/2014\/08\/no-beach-buggies-allowed-on-brick-beaches-this-fall-winter\/\" data-type=\"button_count\" data-size=\"large\"><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Brick Township will not allow four wheel drive vehicles on its beaches this upcoming off-season, township officials said.
