(Photo: Ocean County Sheriff\u2019s Department)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>A bloodhound on the job with the Ocean County Sheriff\u2019s Department is being praised for helping to locate an elderly man who wandered away from his home in a local adult community.<\/p>\n<p>Emmitt, the K9, and his handler, Sheriff\u2019s Officer James Kohout, were called to the Leisure Village East community in Lakewood for a missing person case on Thursday, the sheriff\u2019s department said in a statement. Kohout introduced Emmitt to the missing man\u2019s hat as an article scent, and with the assistance of Lakewood police officers, Kohout and Emmitt tracked the elderly male through to the fence line between Leisure Village and the nearby Four Seasons development.<\/p>\n<p>Kohout finally overheard a faint voice which resulted in the location of the missing person, authorities said.<\/p>\n<p>The missing man was said to be disoriented, and was transported by Lakewood Police EMS to a local hospital for further evaluation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell done by all parties involved, especially K-9 Emmitt,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fcbkbttn_buttons_block\" id=\"fcbkbttn_left\"><div class=\"fb-share-button fcbkbttn_large_button \" data-href=\"https:\/\/shorebeat.com\/brick\/2015\/04\/o-c-sheriffs-k9-helps-locate-missing-senior-citizen\/\" data-type=\"button_count\" data-size=\"large\"><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A bloodhound on the job with the Ocean County Sheriff\u2019s Department is being praised for helping to locate an elderly man who wandered away from his home in a local adult community.
