Talty\u2019s resignation will be formally announced at Thursday night\u2019s board meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Talty did not want to step down, but did so in order to focus on his recuperation, Cantillo said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s going to be very hard,\u201d she said. \u201cEven though we disagreed on some things, we did it respectfully, we agreed to disagree,and we always had each other\u2019s backs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Talty first began serving on the board in 2004, when he was elected as part of a ticket with Cantillo. The pair defeated incumbents John Bendokas and Brian DeLuca that year. His latest stint began in 2010. Talty was known for his supportive voice toward the school district and being an expert on personnel matters. Citing health issues, the board recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shorebeat.com\/brick\/2015\/03\/brick-boe-hires-attorney-to-help-with-union-negotiations\/\">replaced Talty on its negotiating committee<\/a> with a labor attorney.<\/p>\n<p>The board will now be tasked with holding interviews and appointing a new member to fill Talty\u2019s unexpired term for the rest of the year.
