(Photo: Daniel Nee)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>For the first time ever, the township has sold out all of the slips at Traders Cove Marina, the former derelict boatyard purchased by the township and turned into a park and working marina.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor John Ducey said now that the marina is completed \u2013 with a full array of floating docks and other equipment \u2013 the township is using the 2015 summer season as a barometer to project whether the taxpayers would be better served by the township renting out slips using its own employees or leasing out operations to a private company.<\/p>\n<p>The idea was floating before the start of this boating season, but officials ultimately decided to get a better handle on the township\u2019s own costs so they could be better compared to the revenue that could be brought in by contracting out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have different personnel working there,\u201d said Ducey. \u201cRather than having kids we have some older gentlemen and ladies with experience working there. We\u2019re trying to get a grasp of what we can bring in on our own.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A decision will be made over the winter on how the township should proceed.
