They\u2019ll steal anything that isn\u2019t bolted down \u2013 or, in this case, even something that is.<\/p>\n

The Toms River Police Department is investigating several thefts of the air pump machines that customers use to inflate their tires at gas stations in town, department spokesman Ralph Stocco said.<\/p>\n

\u201cA suspect has been seen doing surveillance on the stations during the day and then returning overnight to steal the air pumps that motorists use to fill their car tires,\u201d Stocco said.<\/p>\n

Police have retrieved images of the suspect and his vehicle from an incident that occurred on July 11 at the Exxon near Route 37 and Route 166. The vehicle, Stocco said, appears to be an older teal green Chevy pickup.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are several dents noticeable on the hood,\u201d Stocco added.<\/p>\n

In the Exxon incident, the suspect came to the gas station on July 10 at 7 pm and then returned early the next morning, July 11, around 4 a.m. to steal the machine.<\/p>\n

The air pumps are valued at $1,100 each.<\/p>\n
