It\u2019s one of the most frequent requests Mayor John Ducey says he receives from residents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of people request it,\u201d Ducey said, announcing that the township would add another street sweeper to its fleet in order to be able to respond to more requests from residents.<\/p>\n<p>The township council authorized the solicitation of bids for the street sweeper at its Aug. 11 meeting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of big cities have full time guys doing that,\u201d said Ducey. \u201cWe don\u2019t have that in Brick and we\u2019re not going to be doing that, but we do have a utility crew whose job it is to go out and clean the streets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Residents whose streets are in need of sweeping are able to request a street sweeper come down their block by filling out an E-Service request form online.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you see a need in your neighborhood, please let us know,\u201d Ducey said.<\/p>\n<p>The township will also be keeping its fleet of garbage trucks updated. The township is soliciting bids for new 2016 automated garbage trucks and two traditional rear-loader garbage trucks, since the township still picks up garbage in cans from certain locations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re short a few trucks and we still have a lot of old vehicles,\u201d said Councilman Jim Fozman.<\/p>\n<p>The new garbage trucks, as well as the street sweeper, will be funded through the township\u2019s 2015 capital budget.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fcbkbttn_buttons_block\" id=\"fcbkbttn_left\"><div class=\"fb-share-button fcbkbttn_large_button \" data-href=\"https:\/\/shorebeat.com\/brick\/2015\/08\/brick-to-add-much-requested-street-sweeper-purchase-new-garbage-trucks\/\" data-type=\"button_count\" data-size=\"large\"><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Haven\u2019t seen a street sweeper on your block in a while?
