A pedestrian was injured Friday morning after being struck by an SUV on Chambers Bridge Road near the Bank of America branch.<\/p>\n

According to Brick Police Sgt David Bedrosian, John Pellegrino, 38 of Point Pleasant Borough, was making a left turn in the bank parking lot when he encountered the pedestrian, Philip B. Boldt Jr., 64, of Lakewood, who was approximately 5 feet from the sidewalk.<\/p>\n

Pellegrino, who was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Suburban, came to a \u201ccontrolled, immediate stop\u201d and called 911, Bedrosian said. The accident occurred at 10:04 a.m.<\/p>\n

Captain Robert Mazza, along with Officers Jay Nye and Bryan Murphy were first arriving units on scene, followed by several other officer who later arrived to assist. The Brick Township Police Department\u2019s Emergency Medical Services along with MONOC paramedics responded to the scene.<\/p>\n

Boldt was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, which included a compound fracture to his left leg, plus head and internal injuries, Bedrosian said. He was ultimately admitted to the hospital\u2019s intensive care unit.<\/p>\n

A portion of the bank parking lot, located at 150 Chambers Bridge Road, was closed to traffic during the investigation, which lasted about two hours, said Bedrosian. The cause of the crash is still under investigation by Bedrosian and Officer Scott Dierking of the Brick Township Police Department\u2019s Traffic Safety Unit.<\/p>\n
