(Photo: Fernanda Cerioni\/Flickr)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>For the second year in a row, Brick Township will put its animal control contract out to bid.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, township officials decided to separate two contracts \u2013 one for animal control services and one for shelter services \u2013 out to bid after they had been combined in previous years and awarded to the Jersey Shore Animal Center.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe thought the animal control contract was out of proportion,\u201d said Mayor John Ducey. \u201cWe were paying more than big cities, like Jersey City.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>By awarding a contract to A-Academy Animal Control, the township was able to save about $125,000 on animal control services, Ducey said. Altogether, animal control services cost $133,878 over the past year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re really great when they find a dog or a cat out on the street,\u201d said Ducey, of A-Academy. \u201cBefore they bring it to the shelter, they post a picture online, and people are able to claim the animal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Township officials said they are satisfied with A-Academy\u2019s services, but want to solicit bids in order to secure the best deal for township residents.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fcbkbttn_buttons_block\" id=\"fcbkbttn_left\"><div class=\"fb-share-button fcbkbttn_large_button \" data-href=\"https:\/\/shorebeat.com\/brick\/2015\/10\/bricks-animal-control-contract-out-to-bid-again\/\" data-type=\"button_count\" data-size=\"large\"><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For the second year in a row, Brick Township will put its animal control contract out to bid.
