Hovnanian Children’s Hospital, you’ll have another chance Saturday.

Two weeks ago, David came up with the idea to host a lemonade stand at his family’s home after learning about helping others during the Brick school district’s recent “Week of Respect.” He sold lemonade, hot chocolate, cookies and donuts, with the final tally on donations adding up to about $825, his mother, Kristina Torres, said.

Thanks to an offer from his Taekwondo instructor, David will reopen the lemonade stand in a more public place this weekend to finish what he started.

David’s stand this weekend will be set up from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at the US Taekwondo Center at Drum Point Plaza, 339 Brick Boulevard. All of the proceeds will go to the hospital.

“My husband and I had nothing do with this,” Kristina Torres said before the first stand David opened. “We were completely thrown off when he approached with the idea to do this, but we couldn’t be more proud of him. He may be small, but he has the biggest heart out of anyone I know. He is always interested in helping others in need.”

David plans on bringing his donation to the hospital on Sunday so he can meet some of the young patients his work will help.

If you didn’t get a chance to stop by Brick 7-year-old David Torres’ home two weeks ago to help him on his goal to raise $1,000 for the K.
