The system will\u00a0alert residents in real-time for localized emergency situations and relevant community advisories.<\/p>\n<p>Any resident who wishes to sign up for the service can text their ZIP code\u00a0to 888777 from their mobile phone and they will be\u00a0automatically registered.\u00a0 Once registered, residents will receive a confirmation text to their mobile device. Residents may also customize their alert settings by going to\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nixle.com\/\">www.nixle.com<\/a>\u00a0and creating a User Profile.\u00a0 Residents can customize what alerts they receive and how they receive them such as SMS, email or voice messages.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis system will allow us to quickly disseminate vital information to residents in times of crisis,\u201d Deputy Police Chief James\u00a0Riccio said in a statement. \u201cWhen other means of communication are down we will still be able to reach you through your mobile device.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Residents can also click on the Nixle tab on the Brick Township website,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bricktownship.net\/\">www.bricktownship.net<\/a>\u00a0to register.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are proud of our efforts to keep the citizens of Brick Township well informed about their government and what is going on in town.\u00a0 Bringing this service to Brick is a continuation of our efforts,\u201d said Mayor John G.
