Some residents raised concerns that the ordinance was too intrusive, with Council President Paul Mummolo saying the ordinance was meant to prevent people from running firewood business from their homes – not to regulate the average homeowner who has a fireplace.

The ordinance was brought up after some residents complained about the constant cutting of firewood with power saws in residential yards.

A copy of the revised ordinance proposal has not yet been made public, however the agenda for Monday’s meeting shows that the ordinance is being re-introduced on first reading (rather than up for a final vote on second reading), indicating that its language has been substantially changed from its original introduction in September.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the township municipal complex on Chambers Bridge Road.

The Brick Township council will meet Monday night instead of Tuesday this week, with the governing body recognizing the retirement of Police Chief Nils R.
