Brick Township\u2019s Chamber of Commerce will award $20,000 in college and post-secondary scholarships to Brick students this year, a milestone for the organization in that it has now given more than $200,000 in scholarship funding through its educational foundation.<\/p>\n

The scholarships are unique, chamber officials say, because in addition to graduating high school seniors, awards are also open to adults who are continuing their educations and those students already attending school.\u00a0 Applications will be accepted from Brick Township Chamber of Commerce members, their employees and the children of either, and all graduating seniors of Brick Township\u2019s two high schools as well as the Ocean County Vocational Technical school district.\u00a0 The scholarships are for qualified, continuing post-secondary education \u2013 vocational as well as academic studies.<\/p>\n

Sseveral of the awards will be given to students pursuing specific careers and have been made possible through the donations of several local businesses and individuals. These scholarships include the Anthony Emma Memorial Scholarship donated by Encore Dental Associates, Barlo & Associates Architects\/Abatare Builders, Crystal Point Yacht Club, FASTSIGNS of Brick, Princeton Dental and Richard and Lisa Lau.<\/p>\n

The chamber holds numerous fund-raising events each year to support the annual scholarships, which range from $1,000 to $5,000.<\/p>\n

The deadline for completed applications to be delivered to the office of the Chamber of Commerce, 270 Chambers Bridge Road, Brick, is 5 p.m. on April 8, 2016. Information and an application can be found on the chamber\u2019s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople know us primarily as a business organization,\u201d said Michele Eventoff, the chamber\u2019s executive director. \u201cAnd while that is our main focus, we also offer many important and valuable services for the broader community.\u00a0 Our scholarship program is one of these programs and we feel fortunate to have touched so many lives since this program began in 1990.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lincoln O\u2019Hare of FASTSIGNS served as president of the chamber\u2019s educational foundation.<\/p>\n
