Steven Gerling and Sergeant Michael Drew appeared before the panel of commissioners in what was the final phase of the re-accreditation process that has continued since 2015, the statement said. Accredited status represents a significant professional achievement in the law enforcement community and also earns taxpayers a discount on insurance and related costs.<\/p>\n<p>Accreditation formally acknowledges the\u00a0implementation of policies and procedures that are conceptually sound and operationally effective.\u00a0Originally accredited in Sept.\u00a02012, the department participated in an on-site assessment by NJSACOP to complete an in-depth review of all policies, procedures and department operations in Oct. 2015.
