Police)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Brick Township police officers will square off against the Brick Township High School football team in a friendly game of basketball Friday night to benefit the family of a 3-year-old Brick girl who has been diagnosed with a rare cancer.<\/p>\n<p>The annual Helping Hands basketball game is usually a sell-out event. Friday\u2019s game will be the 26th event organized by the\u00a0Policemen\u2019s Benevolent Association.<\/p>\n<p>The beneficiary this year will be the family of\u00a0Danicka Lacey Fike, who are currently dealing with thousands of dollars in medical debt.\u00a0Danicka has been diagnosed with\u00a0a rare form of Melanoma.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe is a fun and upbeat child who is not aware that she is even sick,\u201d the police department said in an announcement about the game. \u201cHer family has incurred enormous expenses due to her medical treatments.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Danicka is currently taking a medication which costs the family thousands of dollars a month \u2013 because it is considered experimental, it\u00a0is not covered by medical insurance. Making matters worse, her mother is unable work since she has to take\u00a0Danicka on weekly trips to Philadelphia and monthly trips to Texas for medical treatments.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs you can imagine, they have a substantial amount of medical debt that continues to increase with each passing day,\u201d the announcement said. \u201cWe would like to extend a helping hand to Danicka and the Fike family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The game will be held at the Brick Township High School East Gym on Friday, March 18, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door. The cost is $3 per adult and $2 per student. Seating is limited, so arrive early.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the P.B.A. has asked\u00a0residents and local businesses to \u201cdig deep into your hearts and show your generosity\u201d by contributing in any way possible. Donations can be sent to the PBA Local 230, P.O. Box 1067, Brick, NJ 08723, c\/o Officer John Turrin.
