Brick officials marked the upcoming National Library Week \u2013 April 10-16 \u2013 with a proclamation given to Brick Library Branch Manager Susan Gardiner Tuesday night.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very honored that we have been serving the Brick community for 50 years,\u201d Gardiner said, explaining how the library has evolved over the last century from simply a place to borrow books to hosting a full range of children\u2019s and adult programs and acting as a center of the community.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are still books there as the heart of the library, but there is so much more that is offered as we move forward to the future,\u201d said Gardiner, mentioning activities from job seeker resources to computer technology classes.<\/p>\n

The library, located at 301 Chambersbridge Road, is part of the larger Ocean County Library System.<\/span><\/p>\n

In related library news, the Brick branch will host a \u201cBooks, Bags, Bling & Bake Sale,\u201d Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7, 2016, from\u00a0 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the meeting room of the library.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust in time for Mother\u2019s Day,\u201d the sale will include: new or gently used books for children and adult; gently used purses and wallets; costume jewelry, bracelets, pins, earrings, chains and necklaces and baked goods such as cookies, pies, cakes, muffins, and more.<\/p>\n

\u201cCome and shop for a good cause,\u201d Gardiner said in an e-mail.<\/p>\n

The fundraiser is sponsored by the Friends of the Brick Library with all proceeds benefiting the Brick Library. For questions, call 732-604-9303.<\/p>\n
