The Brick Township public school district announced Tuesday morning that\u00a0Jeannette Wehner, a 5th grade in-class support and STEM teacher at Emma Havens Young Elementary School, is the district\u2019s 2016 Teacher of the Year.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMs. Wehner represents the dedicated and talented teachers of the district,\u201d the announcement said. \u201cHer action inspires others as she goes above and beyond for her students and colleagues alike. She is truly an asset to our school community.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Wehner is \u201calways engaging in new technology and techniques to use in the classroom,\u201d as she promotes a STEM curriculum where students learn by doing, said EHYES principal Patricia Lorusso.<\/span><\/p>\n

Wehner\u2019s actions \u201cinspire others to dream more, learn more and do more!\u201d the announcement said. <\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to staying current with best practices for teaching, she is also a contributor and presenter to the district\u2019s Professional Development Academy.<\/span><\/p>\n

The district\u2019s teacher of the year is\u00a0chosen from a pool of nominees with academic contribution and student performance as\u00a0important\u00a0factors in\u00a0the committee\u2019s selection.\u00a0 <\/span>The nominees for each individual\u00a0school represent the \u201cendless commitment to the students of Brick Township,\u201d the announcement said.<\/span><\/p>\n
