(Photo: Daniel Nee)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The construction of a\u00a0facility to serve transient boaters docking overnight at Traders Cove Marina has been put out to bid by Brick officials.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor John Ducey said the township is obligated to build the facility, which will include a resource center, laundry, restrooms, showers and a small lounge area, in order to keep grant funding that was used for the project. The township received about $4.9 million in grants for the project, including a Boating Infrastructure grant and an I BOAT NJ grant.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome of the grants we received requires this building to be used for the boaters,\u201d said Ducey.<\/p>\n<p>The infrastructure for the facility is already in place, and township officials say they are looking to contain the cost to matching funding that has already been earmarked for the facility.<\/p>\n<p>The marina currently has seasonal boat slips for rent but the center will make the site attractive for transient boaters who are traversing the Intracoastal Waterway, which starts at the Point Pleasant Canal and runs 3,000 miles to Brownsville, Tx.
