Brick police spotted a drug deal in progress in the parking lot of the township\u2019s Sports Authority store and arrested two suspects this week.<\/p>\n

Sgt. Erik Olsen was patrolling the area of parking lot at about 5:15 p.m. Tuesday when he\u00a0spotted\u00a0a black Honda Civic park next to a white Subaru Forrester, Sgt. Neal Pedersen said. The sole occupant of the Honda then entered the Subaru with a white plastic bag that he had retrieved from his trunk.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Olsen then saw\u00a0the Honda driver,\u00a0identified as Tyshon Naphier, 28, of Toms River, hand the bag to the driver of the Subaru before he got back in his car and drove off, said Pedersen.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Subaru, Pedersen said, then left the scene and disregarded a stop sign and a red traffic signal as he exited onto Cedar Bridge Avenue.\u00a0<\/span>Olsen was able to conduct a motor vehicle stop on the vehicle at the intersection of Brick Boulevard\u00a0and University Court.\u00a0Olsen was speaking to the<\/span>\u00a0driver of the Subaru, identified\u00a0as Marc Wish, 26, of Brick,\u00a0when\u00a0he detected a \u201cstrong odor of raw marijuana emanating from the vehicle,\u201d said Pedersen.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

An investigation at the scene\u00a0led to the discovery of two ounces of marijuana in the white plastic bag and several burnt marijuana cigarettes.\u00a0Wish was arrested on scene and transported to police headquarters.<\/span><\/p>\n

After the arrest, police units in the area searched for the Honda, and at 6:10 p.m.,\u00a0two members from the newly formed Bicycle Unit, officers Haugh and Person, located the Honda being operated on Creek Road \u2013 near the Maple Leaf Park complex \u2013 and conducted a motor vehicle stop.<\/span><\/p>\n

Naphier was driving\u00a0the vehicle at the time of the stop and officers detected a strong odor of raw marijuana emanating from his vehicle, said Pedersen.\u00a0A police K9 unit arrived and the investigation\u00a0revealed 2 plastic bags of marijuana and over $600 in cash.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Naphier was subsequently arrested and transported to headquarters.<\/span><\/p>\n

Wish\u00a0was charged with possession of CDS, possession of drug\u00a0paraphernalia, disregarding a\u00a0stop sign, failure to stop for a red traffic signal and possession of drugs\u00a0in a motor vehicle.\u00a0 <\/span>He was processed on summonses and released.<\/span><\/p>\n

Naphier was charged with drug distribution and possession, Possession of drug\u00a0paraphernalia and having drugs\u00a0in a motor vehicle.\u00a0<\/span>Bail was set by Municipal Court Judge Robert Lepore in the amount of $25,000 cash.\u00a0 <\/span>Naphier was able to post bail and was released, Pedersen said.<\/span><\/p>\n
