The township council authorized the creation of the program in February and awarded a $10,000 contract to FinCredit, of Marlboro, to administer the program for its first year.

“This program is a win-win for the entire community,” said Ducey. “It gives residents the opportunity to lower the amount of money they pay in property taxes by shopping in town. For business owners, it gives them the opportunity to promote their business and gain a lot of new customers and make sure their current customers keep doing business with them.”

There is no fee for a resident to obtain one of the cards, which will be available at the township municipal complex within the next few days. Residents can also pick up a card and at certain township events such as Bricktoberfest, which is scheduled for Oct. 18.

As of last week, the following businesses will be participating in the program:

River Rock Marina and Restaurant

River Rock Liquor

Dura-plex Windows and Home

IHOP of Brick

All Pro Carpet Care

Shore Points Driving School

Black Sheep Thrift Shop

The UPS Store

Dr. Kenneth F.
