Brick Township will host a Field Day event at Herbertsville Park (formerly Colorado Park) this weekend to promote community spirit amid concerns of crime associated with the nearby Maple Leaf Park complex.<\/p>\n

Police recently began dedicated patrols<\/a> of the park along with the troubled condominium complex after a number of incidents occurred at the park, including an assault<\/a>. Since the patrols, which include foot and bicycle details, began, some residents have confidentially told Shorebeat that there appears to be less suspicious activity in the area.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere were two incidents that happened at the park,\u201d said Mayor John Ducey. \u201cIt\u2019s been a while since the last one, and that\u2019s great, but we scheduled it back then. We wanted to have something there.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Field Day event will include games and activities, including potato sack races, the ladder game and a corn hole tournament.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s for anyone in Brick who wants to come, but especially everyone who lives near the park,\u201d the mayor said.<\/p>\n

Ducey said\u00a0the event was planned to \u201clet everybody know that this park is ours, it\u2019s for families, it\u2019s for great Brick residents.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBad guys, stay out of there,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The event will take place Saturday, June 11 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.<\/p>\n
