The banks of Lake Riviera are a bit cleaner this week thanks to a volunteer effort that turned up a number of items that had been disposed of at the park.<\/p>\n

The volunteers included\u00a0Boy Scout Troops 30 and 926 and Venture Crew 129 from the Joshua Huddy District, as well as members of the\u00a0Brick Republican Community Service Coalition.<\/p>\n

According to Charlie Bacon, one of the organizers of the cleanup, the volunteers\u00a0focused on Lake Riviera Park, three wooded areas located on Lake Shore Drive and the woods between Beaverson Boulevard and Arizona Drive. The group\u00a0rounded up the \u201cusual suspects you would expect to find in the woods,\u201d he said \u2013 water bottles, plastic bags and soda cans \u2013 however a few unique items were found as well. They included a diving board, a large patio umbrella, a wheelbarrow and a shopping cart (which was in the lake).<\/p>\n

The Brick GOP community service group has also asked anyone with ideas for another area of town which requires attention to \u00a0contact Charlie Bacon at 908-910-3564.<\/p>\n
