A Lake Riviera Middle School\u00a0science teacher\u00a0is among the 13 educators selected nationally for the 2016-17 Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellowship Program and will work with the\u00a0National Aeronautics and Space Administration for 11 months.<\/p>\n

Jennifer Lane, a teacher in the school\u2019s STEM program,\u00a0will spend the 11 months at NASA\u2019s\u00a0Research Mission Directorate where she will share and contribute her classroom knowledge and experience. Lane, who became a science teacher in 2004, previously\u00a0was an art director for Lucent Technologies and Avaya Inc. at Bell Labs where she found her love of science, technology, engineering and design. Lane earned a masters degree in education at Monmouth University before becoming a teacher. She previously earned her undergraduate degree in graphic design from Flagler College in 1999.<\/p>\n

Founded in 1990, the AEF Program is a paid fellowship for K-12 STEM educators who demonstrate excellence in teaching and leadership.<\/p>\n

\u201cMs. Lane has excelled in all of her efforts and has done so with a spirit of collegiality and collaboration which has provided inspiration and social, emotional, and academic growth for her students, colleagues, school community, and the district,\u201d said central administrator\u00a0Susan McNamara, in a prepared statement. \u201cShe is an extraordinary and passionate educator who has contributed to the development and advancement of STEM education in the Brick Township Schools.\u201d<\/p>\n
