(Photo: Ocean County Department of Corrections)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Authorities have identified a 29-year-old Toms River man as the person who was shot Thursday night after allegedly pointing a gun at Toms River police officers.<\/p>\n<p>Timothy Sauers, 29, of Hightstown Lane, was shot by the officers, then fled over a concrete bulkhead and jumped into the Toms River, where Tactical Response Officers found him about an hour after 11:32 p.m. incident.<\/p>\n<p>Sauers was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive his wounds.<\/p>\n<p>The incident occurred near the intersection of\u00a0Cedar Drive and Haines Drive in Toms River, south of Route 37 near the river, when officers approached a suspicious vehicle.
