(Credit: ALA 348)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>It\u2019s still early fall, but the holiday season is just around the corner \u2013 especially when you need to plan some Christmas cheer for soldiers thousands of miles away.<\/p>\n<p>Brick <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Unit348\/?fref=ts\">American Legion Auxiliary Unit 348<\/a> has begun planning its \u201cStockings for Soldiers\u201d program, in which the group puts together gifts and care packages for those fighting for our freedom. This year\u2019s effort is the unit\u2019s third, in what has now become an annual tradition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need help filling Christmas stockings to send to our troops overseas,\u201d said Amy Ross, who is organizing the project.<\/p>\n<p>Items the group\u00a0is collecting include : hand and sock warmers, socks, powder drink packets, gum, granola bars, toiletries, playing cards and dog items for our canine heroes, Ross said.<\/p>\n<p>No aerosol products are allowed.<\/p>\n<p>Items may be dropped off inside the canteen at the Legion hall, 822 Mantoloking Road, Brick. Bins will be labeled for the collection. A separate bin will be set aside for can good donations for Vet Works, another project.
