For Birchwood Park, the cost of the project was included in this year’s capital budget, and the township is currently seeking grants from the state Department of Environmental Protection to help defray the cost, said Business Administrator Joanne Bergin.

Ducey said the project will include the construction of two new playgrounds – one for children ages 2-5 and one for ages 6-12 – as well as two basketball courts, a multipurpose field, a gazebo and a walking track. The reconstruction also includes new safety surfaces, irrigation, lighting and security cameras.

The project has been estimated to cost approximately $1.2 million.
