(Photo: Daniel Nee)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Brick officials have modified the township\u2019s fee schedule for inspections of devices such as heating and air conditioning units, refrigeration systems, generators, ventilating apparatus and gas piping.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, such units required a fire inspection and building inspection, however a recent change to state law requires a mechanical inspection.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the past, the use of a mechanical inspector in a municipality was optional,\u201d said Council President Paul Mummolo. \u201cThe requirement is now mandatory therefore a change in the fee schedule is now required.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brick will no longer require fire or building inspections, but will require the mechanical inspection due to the state\u2019s new policy. The change will mean the township will bring in less revenue from development projects, however that decrease is expected to be offset be a lesser workload.<\/p>\n<p>Mechanical inspection fees will be $125 for the first device and $74 for each additional device.
