Police say at least one shot was fired in an altercation that took place in, and then outside, a Seaside Heights liquor store on Monday.
Borough police officers were called to Surf Liquors, 13 Boulevard, for a report of shots fired at about 8:55 p.m., said Detective Steve Korman.
When officers arrived, they met with the clerk of the store who told them that two men – one described as white and one described as black – entered the store. A verbal altercation occurred at the counter between the clerk and the two men, during which the black male actor displayed a firearm, police said.
Both men then exited the store and engaged in a second verbal altercation with two other men located in the immediate area outside of the store. It was then that a shot was fired at the two male victims. After firing the shot, the two suspects fled west on the 100 block of Dupont Avenue, then north onto Central Avenue, Korman said.
The Seaside Heights Police Detective Bureau is actively investigating the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Sergeant Luigi Violante, with any additional information at 732-793-1800.
