Seaside Park officials have awarded a contract to a firm which will tear down the beleaguered Park Central apartment complex on SW Central Avenue in the borough.
The borough council voted to award a contract to Frank Galbraith & Sons, a construction firm based in Scotch Plains, N.J. The borough sought bids for the project last year, which resulted in five bids being offered. Galbraith submitted the lowest qualifying bid at $48,600.

The property, located at 215 SW Central Avenue, between 3rd and 2nd avenues, has been under municipal ownership since spring 2022, but has physically deteriorated recently, with holes and rotting wood visible from the street. The parcel measures 140-by-100 feet in area, 14,000 square feet total, and is located within the business zone.

Seaside Park’s municipal council, along with its planning board, is continuing to discuss potential redevelopment opportunities for several properties in town, including Park Central, the Desert Palm motel site, an oceanfront plot now being utilized as a parking area, and a derelict multifamily home that was recently condemned.
