The bayfront house that one of New Jersey\u2019s favorite sons \u2013 and Lavallette\u2019s most famous resident \u2013 called home for years has been demolished.<\/p>\n

The sprawling West Point Island home owned by actor Joe Pesci, complete with architecture that reflected the glitz and bright colors of Los Angeles, is no more. Two smaller homes are slated to be constructed in its place, which are planned alongside the subdivision of the property and the assignment of a new house number.<\/p>\n

Pesci\u2019s representatives have said that the Academy Award-winning actor, and North Jersey native, was selling what had been his Jersey Shore home for 30 years in order to retire to California for year-round sunshine and to get in some extra golf.<\/p>\n

According to Ocean County tax records, the home was sold Dec. 29, 2021 for $5 million. The new owner is an LLC linked to John J. Chando Building Contractors, based in nearby Mantoloking \u2013 presumably the developer of the new homes which will replace the Pesci residence. Last year, the property was assessed at $3,215,900 and carried a property tax bill of $26,563.<\/p>\n
