The Upper Shores branch of the Ocean County Library in Lavallette will host a local naturalist who will share her knowledge of local shore bird species and how to identify them.<\/p>\n

Award-winning author and photographer Susan Puder will present \u201cAll About Birds\u201d at the branch Aug. 10 at 6:30 p.m. The presentation, \u201cSpring and Summer Coastal Birding,\u201d explores the annual arrival of red knots, warblers and other shore birds to the back bay areas for nesting and breeding, and describes the fall migration that starts each July.<\/p>\n

Puder has photographed and written about nature and wildlife for more than 30 years, and is a field contributor to Nature Photographer Magazine. Her work has been exhibited throughout New Jersey and in New York City.<\/p>\n

The Stockton University instructor founded the Southern Ocean Birding Group at Tuckerton Seaport, and belongs to Friends of Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge. Her book, \u201cNew Jersey Birds and Beyond,\u201d is available at the Ocean County Library.<\/p>\n

Puder will also present a similar program on winter shore birds at the Toms River branch of the county library system Aug. 15.<\/p>\n
