Seaside Heights was voted best beach in Ocean County in the annual ranking by the New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium.<\/p>\n

The annual, statewide public poll began in 2008 by the nonprofit agency \u201cto encourage stewardship and pride for the Garden State\u2019s beautiful beaches.\u201d One town from each of New Jersey\u2019s coastal counties enjoy bragging rights each year, and one is crowned overall best beach in the state.<\/p>\n

Ocean City was crowned statewide winner again in 2022 \u2013 literally an undefeated record in the annual poll for the dry resort town in Cape May County. In Ocean County, Seaside Heights took the top spot, with Point Pleasant declared runner-up.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re very pleased that Seaside Heights was recognized as Ocean County\u2019s best beach,\u201d said Michael Redpath, director of the Seaside Heights Business Improvement District. \u201cWe\u2019re still trying to think of a way to thank all of our employees \u2026 make sure everybody who helps things work realizes they are, indeed, the ones who make everything work.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mayor Anthony Vaz said he was honored for his town to have received so many votes, and reiterated the job borough employees were doing, especially lifeguards, public works employees and police officers.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you serve in government, you don\u2019t always hear nice things \u2013 you hear negative things and it\u2019s part of life,\u201d said Vaz. \u201cBut I\u2019m getting letters telling me, \u2018you\u2019re very fortunate to have these types of people working for you.\u2019 I want everyone to know that we\u2019re grateful, too. Particularly in the summer, it\u2019s a trying job.\u201d<\/p>\n
