A Seaside Heights restaurant that closed its doors after delivering 36 years of sweet morning memories will be demolished.<\/p>\n

Bobber\u2019s Family Restaurant, noted for its Mickey Mouse pancakes and service with a smile, ended its decades-long run in Seaside Heights after the 2022 summer season. Owned by the family of former Mayor William Akers, the restaurant bore the nickname of his son, whose untimely death<\/a> in 2014 hung heavy over the community.<\/p>\n

The borough council on Wednesday voted in favor of utilizing funds from a state grant to demolish the building in which the restaurant was located, at 906 Boulevard near the corner of Sherman Avenue. The $1 million grant from Trenton<\/a> can be utilized to raze private businesses that meet certain approvals.<\/p>\n

The property is for sale privately, and is not listed in the Monmouth-Ocean MLS system. According to tax records, the parcel is owned by two Toms River residents and is assessed at $606,200.<\/p>\n
