First conceived during the summer of 2022, the replacement of the boardwalk in two areas was sent out to bid. After an initial snag during a period of time when timber prices had rocketed into the stratosphere, the project was re-bid, and a contract awarded.<\/p>\n<p>The first phase included the complete replacement of boards between Dupont Avenue (near The Beachcomber) to Franklin Avenue. The second phase included the replacement of the borough&#8217;s primary vehicle entrance to the boardwalk at Grant Avenue. This entrance, of great important during the summer, needs frequent maintenance due to the loads it carries. Emergency vehicles generally use the ramp to access the boardwalk, as do work trucks for Casino Pier, and large commercial vehicles that are brought in to set up summer concerts at the large Grant Avenue beach stage.
