There was no social media, cell phones were few and far between, and boardwalk building codes weren&#8217;t the subject of hours-long debates.<\/p>\n<p>Still, those reporting the news back then maintained \u2013 as is often maintained to this day \u2013 that the Seaside Heights boardwalk was (even then) a throwback of its own to a simpler time. CBS News reporter\u00a0Bill Geist visited the boardwalk in the early 1990s (the exact year isn&#8217;t known) to profile the town and the attractions that, to this day, have people coming back again and again.<\/p>\n<p>The video also\u00a0contains some television history. Views will notice that the report aired on WCAU in Philadelphia, which was then a CBS affiliate. Modern viewers know WCAU as\u00a0NBC10. The station <a href=\"http:\/\/articles.mcall.com\/1995-09-07\/features\/3046302_1_cbs-eye-nbc-peacock-affiliate-switch\" target=\"_blank\">changed its affiliation<\/a> from CBS to NBC in 1995 after Westinghouse sold CBS.
