A second chance for a Seaside Heights woman to become a champion on the Jeopardy quiz show was cut short by a string of multiple \u201cDaily Doubles\u201d from one of her competitors.<\/p>\n

Denise Carlon, an attorney from town, competed in the show\u2019s \u201cSecond Chance Tournament,\u201d in which popular contestants who have previously competed on the show return for an extra shot to win after just falling short in their previous appearance. Carlon appeared as part of the show\u2019s Group Four in the semifinal round, but fell short just again despite an impressive performance.<\/p>\n

Carlon competed against Michael Valleley and Roy Camara on Wednesday night\u2019s show. She amassed $13,600, enough to put her in second place behind Camara, who correctly answered two Daily Doubles in the Double Jeopardy round, boosting his total to $24,200 by Final Jeopardy.<\/p>\n

The final question was in the \u201cSpace\u201d category: \u201cSince it has caused spacecraft to malfunction, a region called the South Atlantic Anomaly is known as this area \u201cof space.\u201d<\/p>\n

Carlon chose the correct response: the Bermuda Triangle. She risked $10,401 on her answer, bringing her total to $24,001. Camara also answered the question correct, however, risking $3,001 to bring his total to $27,201 \u2013 enough to emerge victorious.<\/p>\n

Carlon smiled and congratulated her opponents following the game, during which she mentioned getting together with friends at a local pub for trivia night as one of her ways to practice for the show. So while our local contestant may not have advanced, she cruised through the categories with relative ease, coming up with the correct Final Jeopardy answer, and making Seaside Heights proud. If you see her at Trivia Night, however, you know some major competition is in the house.<\/p>\n
