(Credit: NWS)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Municipalities were announcing the start of road salting operations Monday afternoon in anticipation of\u00a0 snow moving into the area during the evening and overnight hours.<\/p>\n<p>The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for Ocean County from 7 p.m. Monday night through 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Plan on slippery road conditions,&#8221; the advisory said, forecasting snow Monday evening into the overnight hours. A change over to mixed precipitation is likely Tuesday morning.. &#8220;The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Brick Township said its salting operations would begin during the afternoon Monday.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Trucks will be salting Township roads beginning at 2 p.m. today we ask any resident that has the ability to move their car into their driveway to please do so,&#8221; the township said in an announcement. Other towns also began preparing for poor weather, with Seaside Heights canceling its municipal court sessions on Tuesday in advance of the system.<\/p>\n<p>The advisory warns of &#8220;total snow accumulations of 2 to 3 inches and ice accumulations of a light glaze,&#8221; though the total accumulations will be spread over a large number of hours, and heavy snow is not necessarily expected.<\/p>\n<p><div class=\"ose-x ose-uid-6c4b6c0b9d891fcb664e377cf51c923d ose-embedpress-responsive\" style=\"width:600px; height:550px; max-height:550px; max-width:100%; display:inline-block;\" data-embed-type=\"Twitter\"><div class=\"embed-x\"><blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"600\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Good morning! Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch is possible. Overnight, new snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible as the precipitation becomes more steady.<\/p>\n<p>Another half-inch of snow could fall Tuesday, though the precipitation is forecast to change to rain sometime after 9 a.m., with the daytime high Tuesday reaching 40 degrees.
