(Photo: Daniel Nee)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Seaside Park officials voted last Thursday to change the hours of its recycling center, as well as its designation of \u201cin season\u201d and \u201coff season\u201d dates which have different schedules.<\/p>\n<p>The borough council will reduce the \u201cin season\u201d dates from eight months per year to six months, and the hours will vary depending on weekdays and weekends. The driver of the change in hours has been a manpower shortage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBasically, it didn\u2019t seem like the recycling yard was utilized from 3 o\u2019clock on, and we\u2019ve always had problems manning it,\u201d said Borough Administrator Karen Kroon. \u201cIt was overtime, but we still couldn\u2019t get [workers] to cover it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>The new hours will be:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Summer (In-Season):<\/strong> May 16 \u2013 Sept. 14 \u2013 8 a.m. \u2013 5 p.m. daily, including Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Off-Season:<\/strong> Sept. 15 \u2013 May 15 \u2013 8 a.m. \u2013 3 p.m. weekdays; 9 a.m. \u2013 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cThis actually makes the off-season hours \u2013 the 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. \u2013 eight months long instead of six months long,\u201d said Kroon.<\/p>\n<p>Besides the aforementioned holidays above, the recycling center will be closed on legal holidays recognized by the borough in their contracts with employees.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fcbkbttn_buttons_block\" id=\"fcbkbttn_left\"><div class=\"fb-share-button fcbkbttn_large_button \" data-href=\"https:\/\/shorebeat.com\/lavallette-seaside\/2024\/05\/seaside-park-adopts-new-hours-changes-seasonal-dates-for-recycling-center\/\" data-type=\"button_count\" data-size=\"large\"><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Seaside Park officials voted last Thursday to change the hours of its recycling center, as well as its designation of \u201cin season\u201d and \u201coff season\u201d dates which have different schedules.
