(Photo: Daniel Nee)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Seaside Heights will demolish homes that have been abandoned and are posing a safety hazard, officials said.<\/p>\n<p>In a move\u00a0being repeated in numerous towns affected by Superstorm Sandy, the borough has received estimates and will soon begin the process of demolishing several properties cited by residents as posing a hazard.<\/p>\n<p>Word of the program emerged after a Hiering Avenue resident asked Mayor Anthony Vaz at a borough council meeting last week about a house on his street. Indeed, Vaz said, the property at 305 Hiering Avenue is on the list.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There was an asbestos issue, so we\u2019re waiting for the asbestos part of it to be completed,&#8221; before moving ahead with the demolition, said Vaz.<\/p>\n<p>Borough Attorney Jean Cipriani recently received permission from a judge for the home to be razed.
