Start your engines! The Upper Shores branch of the Ocean County Library, located in Lavallette, will celebrate its summer reading kickoff party in June with a \u201cTouch-A-Truck\u201d event for youngsters.<\/p>\n

The Touch-a-Truck event will be the fun gateway to OCL\u2019s 2025 Summer Reading program, the library announced. Youngsters can explore a Lavallette fire engine, police car, ambulance, Department of Public Works vehicles and a truck from the Ocean County Sheriff\u2019s Office and learn about the special gear they contain and how they function.<\/p>\n

The library will provide crafting materials for children while supplies last, and will have plenty of applications to join the OCL Summer Reading Program. All kids who register will be entered into a drawing to win a special prize. Two lucky winners will be chosen at random.<\/p>\n

The event will be held Friday, June 27, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The annual Summer Reading Program includes selections chosen by the library for children, teens and adults that are perfect for beach reading. The library also cooperates with local schools to help students fulfill summer reading assignments. More information on the program can be found on the library\u2019s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The program is free, but those who wish to attend are asked to register at https:\/\/tinyurl.com\/UPSummer<\/a> for the program, which is geared for all ages.
