Boaters who want to make sure their vessels are safe and in compliance with safety regulations will be able to obtain a free boat safety check later this month, courtesy of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.<\/p>\n

The local USCGAUX flotilla will conduct the checks June 28, 2025 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Seaside Park Marina.<\/p>\n

After a safety check, a boat either passes or fails. If your boat passes the Safety Check, you\u2019ll receive a decal to be affixed to your boat or paddle craft, indicating all required equipment is aboard and functioning properly. This decal is also known as \u201cThe Seal of Safety\u201d and your boat is recognized by law enforcement agencies as being equipped with the required safety items.<\/p>\n

If your boat fails, a decal is not given and the owner will receive a list of the missing or damaged items which need to be attended to. Upon acquiring or repairing these items the owner may contact an Auxiliarist who will re-inspect the vessel. If everything is in order, a \u201cSeal of Safety\u201d decal will then be issued.<\/p>\n

Results are confidential. The Auxiliary does not issue tickets or any other sort of citations if a boat needs new or updated equipment.<\/p>\n
