(Photo: Daniel Nee)

Seaside Park police have released their weekly blotter, representing a sampling of calls to which the department responded over the past week. In all, the department handled 99 calls for service. The blotter appears below:

9/12

Well Being Check – Police had been responding to several calls throughout the day for a possible homeless male who had been wandering around and talking to himself. Police had checked on him multiple times as calls came in, but no crimes were being committed, so officers just spoke with him each time. Police were concerned for his well being and requested a mobile screener from the hospital to respond to assess him. It was determined that the male needed to go to the hospital. The subject immediately fought with officers and actively resisted, as well as kicked and attempted to bite them. The subject was subsequently taken to Community Medical Center for treatment.

Verbal Dispute – While on patrol in the area of Lafayette and Ocean avenues, officers observed two males having a verbal argument. Police stepped in and separated both parties. Officers were able to mediate the situation. Both parties were advised of complaint procedures. The individuals went their separate ways.

9/14

Open Door – Police responded to a call for an open front door to a residence in the area of L Street and Boulevard. Officers arrived and spoke to the caller who stated the homeowners had left in the morning and the front door was open which was unusual. Officers checked the residence and did not locate any signs of forced entry, and no one was located inside. Nothing inside appeared to be disturbed and it was determined the door was left open in error. Police secured the residence when they exited.

Threats – Police responded to the area of K Street and Central for a caller who stated they received threatening text messages from an unknown number. Officers arrived and spoke to the caller and gathered the information needed to generate a report. The caller stated they had no idea who sent the message but was concerned and wanted to report it. Police attempted to call the number and make contact with the subject but were unsuccessful. The number appeared to be a scam number. The caller was advised to block the number and report any new messages from other numbers.

9/18

First Aid – Police and Tri-Boro First Aid Squad were dispatched to assist a patient experiencing abdominal pain. Officers and EMS arrived and assessed the patient at the scene. They were later transported to Community Medical Center for treatment.

9/19

Landlord Tenant – Police responded to headquarters to speak to a caller who was involved in an ongoing landlord tenant dispute. The landlord wanted to report harassing messages as well as monies being sent that were not court ordered as they are still in the litigation process. The caller wanted to have this documented. Officers gathered the information needed to generate a report and advised the caller not to engage in any conversation with their former tenant.

Arrest – While on patrol in the area of the Causeway outbound, officers initiated a motor vehicle stop on a vehicle for traffic violations. After speaking with the driver, officers observed an odor of an alcoholic beverage as they spoke with the driver. Field sobriety tests were conducted, and it was determined that the driver had been driving while intoxicated. The male driver was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters where he was processed and charged with DWI as well as other traffic violations.

Seaside Park police have released their weekly blotter, representing a sampling of calls to which the department responded over the past week.
