Seaside Park is accepting bids for the full reconstruction of three public parking lots, a project that includes roadway and drainage upgrades as well as accessibility improvements.<\/p>\n

Lot 1 is located west of Ocean Avenue between Stockton and Farragut avenues. It is not located directly on the oceanfront. Lot 2 refers to the large oceanfront lot with an entrance on Lafayette Avenue, which then wraps around clockwise to an exit on the southwestern corner of the lot. Lot 3 is a smaller oceanfront lot that runs along the boardwalk from N Street to K Street. All are paid lots.<\/p>\n

The base bid includes full-depth reconstruction of the parking lots, ADA-compliant ramp and sidewalk improvements, restriping to improve traffic circulation, and landscaping. The project will entail \u201clow-impact development best management practices for drainage.\u201d Contractors must field-verify each proposed ADA ramp with the engineer prior to construction to ensure compliance with standards in effect at the time of work.<\/p>\n

Seaside Park has appropriated $2.8 million for the reconstruction of the three lots in its capital budget. The financing will come from the New Jersey Environmental Infrastructure Financing Program, commonly known as a the \u201ci-Bank.\u201d Financing from the state bank often comes with very low interest rates or full forgiveness of interest.<\/p>\n

Bids will be received and opened publicly at 11 a.m. June 16, however Mayor John Peterson said the project will not be undertaken during the busy summer season.<\/p>\n

\u201cHopefully the bids will come in within the range of our estimates, and then we\u2019ll look at the lowest responsible bidder and make that determination,\u201d he said. \u201cBut the actual project itself and the implementation of the project won\u2019t take place till after the summer.\u201d<\/p>\n
