Lavallette residents plagued by tidal flooding may have some relief on the way.<\/p>\n

Officials said this week that Ocean County will look into two particular flood-prone areas at the suggestion of the borough.<\/p>\n

“They\u2019ve scheduled\u00a0it for an investigation,” said Council President Anita Zalom, referring to the intersections of Bay Boulevard\u00a0and Washington Avenue, and Bay Boulevard\u00a0and President Avenue, where an outfall pipe is located.<\/p>\n

The county will conduct “wet” visits and “dry” visits at different times to gauge the problem, then try to determine the best way to fix it. Improvements\u00a0to the\u00a0outflow at\u00a0Bay and President, Zalom said, will be included in a future stormwater management contract.<\/p>\n

“They thought they would be able to fix it themselves, but they\u2019re going to have to go out to bid on it,” she said. “That\u2019s been flooded for the last 20 years, and getting worse and worse and worse.”<\/p>\n
