Lavallette is planning to take over construction inspections in Seaside Park, with the details of how the arrangement will work still under consideration.<\/p>\n

Lavallette officials said recently that salaries of inspectors will be shared between the two communities, and inspectors who work on a part-time basis in both towns will likely have their hours changed.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome people\u2019s hours were changed, and most of them were cut down pending the joint service,\u201d said Councilwoman Joanne Filippone.<\/p>\n

\u201cMost of our part time inspectors happen to be the same part-time inspectors that happen to be part-time in Seaside Park,\u201d said Filippone. \u201cThey will be housed here, they will be responsible to Lavallette, and they will be assigned where needed. There are some part-time people on staff who are likely not to remain once we combine services.\u201d<\/p>\n

Each town will receive their \u201cfair share\u201d of revenue brought in from their respective communities, said Mayor Walter LaCicero.<\/p>\n

Last month, Lavallette hired a new full-time inspector who previously worked in town under a state program which provided inspectors following an uptick in demand after Superstorm Sandy. That program ended recently, necessitating many coastal communities in New Jersey to take a fresh look at their inspection personnel.<\/p>\n

Inspectors are responsible for construction, building subcode, plumbing and fire inspections.<\/p>\n
